POLICE STANDOFF!
CRAZY! So Dave and I are turning off lights and locking up at about 9 ( yes I know that is early but we are tired people!) And I heard what sounded like a radio. I couldn't figure out where the sound was coming from. I looked outside to see a cop car directly in front of our house. It was a police negotiator talking our armed neighbor out from the house. There were over 8 cop cars surrounding the house and a tons of cops with shot guns and other loaded weapons. YEAH SO MY NEIGHBORHOOD IS CRAZY! We turned off all our lights and watched the drama unfold from our bedroom. The cops kept flashing their flashlights into our bedroom to shoo us back. About 10:30 pm 911 called with a recorded message telling us to stay in our houses. Dave and I literally fell asleep listening to the negotiator talk to the gunman. They were preping for a forced entry before we nodded off. Unfortunately we fell asleep before the resolution a t 1 am when 911 called and said we could resume our activities. I'm so glad 911 allowed us to go back to sleep.

So this is the 2nd incident this year. At Easter a friend of our neighbor had a "domestic dispute" and a firetruck came to wash the blood off the concrete after investigators took pictures of the scene for like 3 hours.

Too bad you guys didn't get the resolution of it. I'm endlessly curious! lol
So it's looking a little less probable that we'll be neighbors! Scary!
Oh boy thats a little scary. We live in a neighborhood just a little similar to them. We have become good friends with the cops :) Glad you guys were safe. It sounds like your neighborhood really needs you!!
Wow, I would be looking for a new neighborhood!!! Glad it worked out ok though and you guys didn't have to leave your house or something!
Ahh...life in the calm, quiet, and kid friendly suburbs. Just make sure you wear your Kevlar PJ's to bed and keep the night vision goggles on the night stand.
Holy Cow Danica! I remember the first incident. Crazy! You wouldn't think stuff like that happened in your neighborhood, but scary! I guess it made for an interesting evening. :) Glad you guys are alright!
lol. I can't believe that was highlands ranch.
Dan that is soooo crazy. I thought that was a safer looking area. So what happen in the end?
Maybe Cops will start filming in Highlands Ranch instead of Florida? I'm tired of all the white trash jokes at my state's expense! :)
I am sorry; I can totally relate. We have the cops over at our neighbors' home at least 4 times a year. Nothing that dramatic or scary (well except the armed chase through our backyards). I am glad that you guys are safe. And if they interview you on TV make sure you say "I am so shocked they seemed like such nice people."
